Australia the Movie
Baz Luhrman’s new movie “Australia” is being used by the Tourism Australia to encourage visitors to the land down under. The Tourism marketing board will be spending millions on a campagin which will feature Australian landscapes from filming locations in the Kimberleys and Darwin as well as Sydney. While the movie is set in beautiful areas like north west Australia, I’m not sure how it will go as a branding/advertising method for Australia. The movie is set 70 years ago so how much of the movie can be relevant to modern day Australia?
Oh yes it will – think of what happened to NZs tourism on the back of a set of movies set in a fantasy world!
